Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) are two different ways to measure how much oxygen the water will consume when it enters the ecosystem or a waste water treatment plant. In both cases the oxygen-consuming substances are mainly of organic origin. These substances should be reduced to a minimum in a wastewater treatment plant.
Electrolysis with Diamond Electrodes dismantles COD/BOD and converts organics into CO2 and H2O (carbon dioxide and water)
